Drop-off/Pick-up

Arrival and Dismissal Procedures

The safety of our students is our highest priority. Elmonica Elementary uses the School Bell Driveline system to manage a safe and efficient arrival and dismissal process. Family Number Cards must be displayed clearly on your dashboard or presented to staff during pick-up to ensure student safety and a smooth transition.

Morning Arrival

  • Student arrival begins at 8:10 a.m. Students may enter through the Breezeway, Cafeteria, or Front Doors.

  • Breakfast is available starting at 8:10 a.m. in the cafeteria.

  • School begins at 8:25 a.m. Students are expected to be in class by this time.

Arrival Reminders:

  • Walkers should stay on the sidewalk at all times.

  • Bike riders must walk their bikes once on school grounds. Helmets are required.

  • Car/Daycare Van Drop-off:

    • Use the center lane of the main parking lot.

    • Pull forward as far as possible before letting children exit the passenger side of the vehicle.

    • Staff will assist with unloading as needed.

Afternoon Dismissal

  • Dismissal begins at 3:00 p.m. for:

    • Students riding the bus or daycare vans

    • Independent walkers

  • These students are dismissed from their classrooms as buses and vans arrive. Independent walkers are released at the bell.

  • Vehicle Family Number Pick-up:

    • Begins at 3:10 p.m.

    • Students being picked up by vehicle will walk to the cafeteria to wait for dismissal.

    • Staff will call Family Numbers using the School Bell Driveline system. Students will exit the cafeteria when their number is called.

    • Family Number Cards are required.

Dismissal Gates

  • Kindergarten and First Grade: Dismissed at the East Gate to an adult with a matching Family Number.

  • Second through Fifth Grade: Dismissed at the West Gate to an adult with a matching Family Number.

Individualized family pick-up plans must be arranged in advance. For example, a fourth grader may walk through the building to pick up a first-grade sibling so that both can exit together from the East Gate.

Safety and Courtesy Reminders

  • Follow all posted traffic and parking signs.

  • Do not block neighbors’ driveways—please be respectful of the surrounding community.

  • Drive slowly and stay alert for students and staff directing traffic and pedestrians.

  • Use crosswalks and designated drop-off/pick-up zones only.

The Safety of Our Students Depends on You

Students are especially vulnerable during arrival and dismissal due to increased traffic and activity around the school. Your attention and cooperation are critical to keeping our students safe.

Elmonica’s drop-off and pick-up procedures have been carefully designed to improve visibility, reduce congestion, and increase the safety of all students. Please review, understand, and follow these procedures.

We ask all drivers to consistently practice safe and courteous habits:

  • Drive slowly and follow posted speed limits

  • Avoid U-turns near the school

  • Always stop for crossing guards

  • Do not idle your vehicle unnecessarily – turn off your engine while waiting
